Seth Fewell

Seth Fewell is a Music Educator at Pearl Hall Elementary School in Pasadena ISD and Co-Director of the Building Cultural Bridges Program.  Seth has a strong desire to see children develop a life-long love of music, in any of its many different applications believing that music helps the children he teaches develop into sensitive, well-rounded citizens.  In his instruction, Seth understands that people will listen and learn more when the lesson is relevant to them.  For this reason he teaches his students about music, but also ties in subjects that are related, assisting students to make connections between the musical curriculum and their own personal interests.

One such interest for Seth is the use of technology.  He is the technology liaison to the district for his school, and is constantly searching for new ways for teachers to reach the technologically minded students of the 21st century.  For the Building Cultural Bridges program, the incorporation and use of technology is Seth’s main objective.  Seth’s strengths in web design, audio engineering, and expertise in facilitating international video conferencing have brought scientists, educators and musicians from all over the world together, creating a unique and exciting educational experience for the students involved with the Building Cultural Bridges program.  With family working in the space industry, Seth was immersed in space sciences at an early age, and bridges the state curriculum by infusing his life-long passions for both Technology and Space into his daily Music lessons.

Seth’s musical background began at the age of 9, in 5th grade when he chose to study the clarinet.  He continued his clarinet studies through high school and into college.  Seth’s vocal studies developed after moving to Texas when he was in the 11th grade, and searching for “something new” to try.  He decided to sign up for the A Cappella Choir at Friendswood High School during his 11th grade year.  On his first day in the choir, it was mandated by his director that Seth begin auditions for the Texas Music Educator Association’s Vocal All-State process.  The immersion in vocal music that followed developed a deep love for intricate harmonies found in all types of vocal/choral music.

Graduating in May 2003 from Houston Baptist University, Seth holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sacred Music, with emphasis on both Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance.  Seth became a music educator in the Fall of 2005, completing his Teaching Certificate through the Pasadena ISD Alternative Certification Program.

In December 2013, Seth graduated with a Masters of Science in Education - Instructional Design and Technology, from Purdue University.  Graduating with a 3.97 GPA, he was in the top 10% of his class.

Seth has sung with many different choirs including the Houston Symphony Chorus, the Boston University Symphonic Chorus, and various local church choirs.  He is the proud father of 2 children, Gabriel, and Elzbieta, and proud step-father to 3 - Amanda, Justin, and Andrew, and spends most of his time away from work with them.
